Montebuena - which means 'good mountain' - is the name of one of the best quality areas of the Labastida region of Rioja. These vines - 80% Viura and 20% Tempranillo Blanco - grow in sight of both the Ebro river and Sierra Cantabria mountains, nicely moderating Rioja's warm days and allowing fruit to ripen both fully and fresh. Made all in steel, this is bursting with ripe peach, apricot and yellow apple fruit enlivened by a squirt of pineapple and lemon at the end. A nice sense of creaminess on the palate and finish keeps things easygoing and fun to drink. Really delicious and fine value; a nice alternative to Pinot Grigio or other Italian whites! Just 12.5% alcohol, too.
